Went apple picking today with some friends! The apples are small this year because the rains just never came, but the flavors are very delicious.
The things I can do with the apples this week... Apple pie, apple crisp, dried apple ornaments for my Christmas tree (See the first step below) :D
Fall is my favorite season, the smell of warm apple cider, the colors of the trees, and the brisk air that feels refreshing and tingles... Warm nights sitting by a fire drinking tea and cocoa... Leaves crunching under me feet...

Oven dried apples: preheat the oven to 150 degrees F. If you don't have these settings, just use the lowest setting you've got. Slice the apples cross ways to make circles. If you look, you will see the star in the middle. (You can tell your children, it represents the star the wise men followed to Bethlehem.) Arrange the apples on cake racks, not touching each other. Sprinkle the apples with some spices, cinnamon, nutmeg or allspice. Close the oven. It takes about 10 to 20 hours, but you'll need to check periodically, including rotating the shelves and moving them up or down to get even heating. If you want to speed it up, you can bump the heat up to as high as 200 degrees F, but you'll need to watch them much more closely.
